Meaning of Job Evaluation
Job evaluation is the rating of jobs for the purpose of determining the relative worth of each job. It is a systematic method of appraising the worth of each job in relation to other jobs.
The idea behind job evaluation is that jobs which are similar in duties and requirements must carry the same amount of wages.
For example, the job of an electrician and a machine operator may appear to be quite different but, they are of the same relative worth, requiring similar intelligence, skill, effort, etc., both of these jobs should be paid at the same rate.
